The Immortal Basket qualified today, for the first time in its history, to the final of the Portuguese basketball cup, beating Benfica, 92-88 in the first meeting of the “final four” of Matosinhos.
The Albufeira team, coached by Luís Modesto, lost at halftime (51-47), but turned the scorer in the last period (19-11 partial) to leave the "red" out of the race.
Derrick Fenner Jr. (19 points), Tanner Omlid (19 points) and Ty Toney (15 points) were in evidence in the Algarve set.
Immortal is now waiting for the meeting between Sporting and FC Porto, which will define the other finalist of the Cup. The final is played tomorrow, Sunday.
