The City Council of Silves (CMS) appeals to all citizens to participate in the exercise promoted by the National Civil Protection Authority (ANPC), on November 5, at 11:05 am, which coincides with International Tsunami Day. is called "The Earth Treme".
The purpose of this exercise, during which the "3 saving gestures" are exercised – LOWER, PROTECT and WAIT – is to enable citizens to know how to act in the event of an earthquake. To this end, it is imperative that the preventive measures and self-protection behaviors to be adopted BEFORE, DURING and AFTER an earthquake are known by all.
In addition to the Schools, whose adherence to the initiative has been enormous, throughout the six editions of this event, the ANPC has, year after year, extended to the whole society the reflection on the theme of the seismic risk and sought to involve a growing number of participants in this Exercise.
Thus, every citizen is invited to participate, thus developing an act of citizenship, showing an active commitment to the pursuit of their own protection and safety and that of all those around us.
The CMS announces on this day, on its official website and social networks, the councils and recommendations on preventive measures and self-protection behaviors to be adopted in case of earthquake / tsunami, because, as ANPC points out, we are all civil protection .
We recall that this ANPC initiative is included in the National Strategy for Preventive Civil Protection, approved by Council of Ministers Resolution no. 160/2017 of October 30.
