IndieLisboa: UFOs, Disappearances and Robert Mitchum - News

"Jessica Forever" went through the Panorama section of the Berlin Festival and divided critics. For all intents and purposes, there is an air of futuristic dystopia and the story of a warrior in the midst of a world taken by orphans …

Inserted in a peculiar way in the "subgenre" of the docufiction, "The Young Baumann" proposes a narrative to a certain point of suspense to speculate what would have happened to the protagonists, young heirs of a powerful agrarian family of the south of Minas Gerais until they disappear mysteriously in the the early 1990s.

At the beginning of the film, the director Bruna Almeida de Carvalho warns that the puzzle has never been solved: what is shown is a recreation of what would be your holiday based on VHS tapes filmed by one of the family members.

With a cast, dialogues and very effective situations, is the suggestion of absence over this imagined daily life of missing persons.

In the Director's section, one of the proposals is this work that is based on an essay filmed by the photographer Bruce Weber next to the icon of the American cinema Robert Mitchum.

Before the death of the actor, who died in 1997, Weber accompanied him in meetings with friends and night out and even sing and record for an album that never came out.

The material, which was stored during the 20 years following Mitchum's death, has now served as the basis for this tribute, which features special guest appearances by Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro, among others.
