Prime Minister António Costa today called on the Assembly of the Republic to recognize as "vital that the necessary incentives can be granted" so that the leases of housing are long-lasting and below market value.
"It is very important that the Assembly of the Republic, just as it rebalances the tenancy rights of property owners and tenants and that it protects the elderly, also takes into account that it is absolutely vital to be able to provide the necessary incentives for long-term rental "Said António Costa at the closing of the 15th congress of architects in Lagoa, Algarve.
During his speech, the Prime Minister considered that the criterion presented by the Government "is balanced, by proposing an exemption from the taxation of property income, when the lease is made 20% below its respective parish."
"It is not a price that neither ignores the different value of the good according to its location, but, at the same time, it not only blocks what is contrary to the dynamics of speculation, but gives it due tax incentives." he remarked.
