“It was a terrible and difficult year for all of us…” - Rogério Bacalhau / CM Faro

One year after the start of the pandemic and on the way to the end of his term, the Mayor of Faro, Rogério Bacalhau, exclusively to the diariOnline South Region newspaper, made a situation report, as well as clarify what due to the pandemic, was forced to change, in relation to the initial plans for the mandate, which will end in October.

“It was a terrible and difficult year for all of us, right from the start for those who have to decide and for those who have added responsibilities about people's lives…” that was how Rogério Bacalhau started to take stock of the pandemic situation in the municipality of Faro, adding that until now “More than 3,000 people tested positive in the municipality…”.

Regarding the initial plans for the mandate, changes necessarily had to be made, with Edil Farense starting by mentioning that “We last year had about five or six million planned to make investments and we made just over two, so everything else was channeled to the pandemic situation and the aid that we came to implement, so we had to reorganize and define a set of priorities… ” adding that “The budget was approved three weeks ago, so we are implementing it with these two perspectives, the improvement of living conditions in the municipality and, first of all, the fight against the pandemic in all areas where it can manifest itself.”

In the second part of this interview Rogério Bacalhau talks about the financial health of the Municipality of Faro and the new bridge to Praia de Faro, which will finally move forward, taking into account that companies interested in executing the project appeared at the fourth tender.
