"The Board of Directors of the Academic Association of Coimbra / OAF hereby informs its members, supporters and other interested parties that it has reached an agreement with João Alves to take on the position of Head Coach of Académica's professional team.
A profound connoisseur of football, not only as a player but also as a coach, João Alves is a name that does not require presentations to Académica's members and supporters. The 65-year-old coach entered Briosa's history when, in 2001-2002, he rise of division, an objective that would come to materialize in two more occasions, this time to the service of the Star of the Amadora.
As a player, João Alves excelled in the service of SL Benfica, where he won several titles. He was also Portuguese international on several occasions.
