João Domingues, 185th-ranked player, beat Oriol Roca Batalla, 347th, 6-2, 6-4 and Frederico Silva, 334th, surprised Bjorn Fratangelo, 141st standard, 6-2, 2-6, and 6-3 in two hours and 24 minutes.
For his part, Tiago Cação, 658th ATP, fell in the second round, before the Estonian Jurgen Zopp, 178th and fifth pre-designated, by 7-5 and 6-2.
In the round of 16, João Domingues, the 13th seed, will face Brazilian João Menezez, 358th player, while Frederico Silva will join forces with Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles, 246th.
Faced with the fall of Fratangelo, facing Frederico Silva, the most heavily contested player is now the Argentine Facundo Bagnis, 159th in the world ranking and second pre-designated.
