Socialist deputy João Galamba is expected to take over the post of Secretary of State for Energy after the remodeling that the government was targeted this weekend, SIC Notícias.
Following the Batalha Congress, held in May this year, João Galamba left the Permanent Commission of Socialists, where he was the spokesman, making only part of the National Secretariat of the PS, the formal governing body of this party and which is led by António Costa.
In an interview with Jornal Económico, in April of this year, João Galamba did not hide the ambition to integrate the next Government. "Yes, I have the ambition to participate in a Government, of course. The areas that interest me most are Finance or Economics. These are the areas in which I feel more at ease and in which I have worked at the parliamentary level, "said at the time the one who is now appointed to the Secretary of State for Energy.
João Galamba has a degree in Economics and was elected by the constituency of Coimbra. He currently belongs to the Committee on Budget, Finance and Administrative Modernization.
Sanches Insurance leaves Energy
The government reshuffle, announced this weekend, has determined the departure of Secretary of State for Energy, Jorge Seguro Sanches. Thus, the Secretary of State for Energy, Jorge Seguro Sanches, accompanied the Minister of Economy, Manuel Caldeira Cabral, at the exit of the Executive led by António Costa.
The position is more relevant because the new Economy Minister, Pedro Siza Vieira, who will accumulate with the functions of Deputy Minister, asked for an excuse to manage the energy area due to possible incompatibilities with previously held positions in a law firm for companies in the energy sector.
The energy sector has been embroiled in controversy for several years due to so-called excess revenues allegedly levied by companies, most notably EDP, which is controlled by China's Chinese Three Gorges. There is a legal dispute on this matter worth 120 million euros.
