João Galamba forces employees to use elevator instead of stairs - Jornal Econômico

As part of the government's remodeling in October 2018, João Galamba, until then MP of the PS, assumed the position of Secretary of State for Energy, which was transferred from the Ministry of Economy to the new Ministry of Environment and Energy Transition (MATE) , led by João Matos Fernandes. The installation of the Galamba cabinet in the MATE building, located on the street of "O Século" in Lisbon, resulted in several changes in the daily routine of its employees: they had to enter through the back door and were forced to use the elevator instead of the stairs.

The Economic Journal has learned from two officials that the use of the stairs would have been limited because of the "noise", since "they are old and squeaky". From the arrival of Galamba to the building, access to the upper floors was made through the elevator, obligatorily, raising ironic comments among the employees regarding the "carbon neutrality" of this mobility option. As for the entrance through the back door, restricting entry through the front door, point to a "whim" or form of "authoritarianism."
