João Rebelo, deputy since 1999 always elected by Lisbon, will be the head of the CDS-PP list by the district of Faro to the next Legislative elections, the party announced after Friday's meeting of the national council, which approved the main candidates.
With the departure of Teresa Caeiro, elected by the coalition "Portugal à Frente" (PSD and CDS-PP) in 2015 and now abandoning active politics, the centrists chose a figure with vast parliamentary experience.
João Guilherme Nobre Silver Fragoso Rebelo was born on February 2, 1970. He holds a degree in International Relations and a university professor. He was secretary general of the CDS and is currently a member of the executive committee and autarkic coordinator of the party.
The centrist politician has been in the Assembly of the Republic for two decades and was always elected by Lisbon.
The next legislative elections are scheduled for October 6. João Rebelo was the first head of list by Faro to be officially announced.
