The Algarvian João Rodrigues (W52 / FC Porto) and Vicente de Mateos (Aviludo / Louletano) went up in the individual stage of the special edition of Volta a Portugal, after having finished in the top 6 of the 1st stage, won by Luís Gomes (Kelly / Simoldes / UDO) at the top of Santa Luzia.
The Portuguese runner was the strongest in the final sprint after 180 kilometers and the short 3rd category climb to the top of Santa Luzia, in Viana do Castelo, beating Daniel Mestre and Gustavo Veloso, both from W52 / FC Porto, 2 And 3rd ranked, respectively, with the same time.
João Rodrigues was ranked 5th, followed by Vicente de Mateos, while the Algarvian Amaro Antunes (W52 / FC Porto) was 10th and Frederico Figueiredo was the best representative of Atum General / Tavira / Maria Nova Hotel, in 15th. Th place, all with the same time as Gomes.
In the individual general, Gustavo Veloso remains in the lead, followed by teammate Daniel Mestre, at 1 second. João Rodrigues and Vicente de Mateos remain in the "top-10" and climbed to 6th and 8th places, 8 and 12 seconds from the leader.
The Tavira pair Alejandro Marque and Frederico Figueiredo occupies the 11th and 14th places, at 21 and 23 seconds.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, the peloton faces one of the most mythical stages of the Tour, ending in Senhora da Graça, after a 167 km course.
