Olhanense, who should return to compete in the Portuguese Championship despite still dreaming of the promotion to the II League, confirmed this week the appointment of José Carvalho Araújo as a new coach.
The young coach, 38 years old, has a long history in the formation of Sp. Braga started in 2009. Since then, he has guided the teams of initiates, youths, juniors and, in the last two seasons, under-23 of Braga.
“Once again, we are back to investing in the development of Portuguese football, in the passion for the positive game, in the empowerment of young Portuguese players. Mister José Carvalho Araújo is the right helmsman to develop our philosophy of spectacular football ”, underlines the Algarve club, on social media, about hiring.
Remember, Olhanense, coached by Filipe Moreira, was ranked 1st in the D Series of the Portuguese Championship at the time of the interruption of sports events, due to Covid-19, but the FPF decided to indicate, for the promotion to II Liga, Vizela and Arouca, the two teams with the most points in all four series. The Algarve club appealed the decision and is awaiting a response.
So far, the Olhão club has already secured two reinforcements, Uruguayan striker Juan San Martín, who has played for Farense and Louletano and played for Real SC, and full-back Kaká, ex-Vizela.
