Former FC Barcelona president Josep Lluís Núñez died today at the age of 87 in Barcelona, ​​a victim of prolonged illness, sources close to the family told EFE.

The former manager first came to the presidency of Barça in 1978, a position he held until 2000, at a time when the club won the first European football championship on 20 May 1992, Sampdoria in London.

Under his presidency, the Catalans won a total of 27 titles, Núñez leaving office only in 2000, after 22 years in office, during which he expanded the Camp Nou stadium, built the club museum and gave birth to the foundation.
