The Portuguese André Soares won today the silver medal in the competition of -66 kg of Open Pan American judo, played in Santiago de Chile, only losing in the final for the French Robin Corrado.
This was the best result of the Portuguese on the day today, in which Felipe Cruz and Rodrigo Costa Lopes were also involved, both in -60 kg.
André Soares defeated Chilean forward Matias Moraga, Ryan Vargas of the United States and Frenchman Vincent Sorgiati and Alexandre Mariac in the final, to fall to another Frenchman, Robin Corrado – always fighting decided by ippon.
As for Felipe Cruz, he won a match and lost two, which earned him one of the seventh places in the final order of -60 kg. Rodrigo Costa Lopes won a match and lost another, not getting final classification.
On Sunday, it will be the turn to take action Tiago Rodrigues, at -90 kg.
