Lagoa moves to the Participatory Budget execution phase

Five different proposals for improving public space in the municipality of Lagoa, submitted by local citizens, were confirmed under the terms of OP Lagoa 2020. The presentation of the most voted proposals in this 7th edition of the Participatory Budget of Lagoa, Algarve, (0P) took place on 13 November, in the Auditorium of the Cultural Center of Convento de S. José.

In the same session, the mayor, Luís Encarnação, and the city councilor Ana Martins, delivered to the proponents of the five confirmed proposals, the respective letters of commitment, where the municipality assumes the responsibility of executing the winning projects in 2020.

Streamlined without interruptions since 2014, the PB incorporates the strategy of the municipality of Lagoa to enhance public participation through mechanisms designed for this purpose.

The 2020 edition took place in a pandemic context, which led the municipality to change the usual methodology for collecting and discussing proposals, in order to minimize the public health risks associated with events that promote greater proximity between people. The new methodology for submitting and voting proposals for this 7th edition of the OP in Lagoa was developed in an online environment, supported by a specific platform for
this effect, called “Lagoa Participa”.

The OP Lagoa 2020, fixed the reference investment in the amount of 300 thousand euros, admitting a maximum value of 100 thousand euros per project, as in previous years. Proposals that are now in the execution phase can be seen online.
