Lagoa promotes actions for inclusion in the school context

Training, raising awareness, launching and offering books, integrated the program of the municipality of Lagoa to promote equality. "Peer relations" was the central theme of the awareness campaign with which the
Lagoa municipality marked the World Day to Combat Bullying celebrated on October 20, 2020.

The same program included, on the 22nd, the presentation of the children's book “Maria-Rapaz, Manel-Rapariga, Preto no Branco, Girafa or Formiga – a journey on inclusion, equality and prevention of violence”. This was followed by a training course for early childhood educators and teachers, with suggested strategies for
approach to the themes of the book.

On October 26, the day of school libraries, the distribution of this new book began by the libraries of the School Groups and by the approximately 500 children attending the 1st and 2nd years of the 1st cycle of public education in the municipality of Lagoa. Still within the scope of the Municipal Day for Equality, marked on the 24th of October, the Lagoa chamber, with the collaboration of the Bullying Portal, posted banners in the Basic Schools of the 2nd and 3rd cycles of the municipality of Lagoa, where it reads: «You can make a Difference»!

«Propagating messages to encourage the promotion of good relations among young people and foster a healthier environment in schools is a way of raising awareness of the problem», declared the councilor Ana Martins who participated in the initiative that was joined by representatives of the Directorates of the Groups from Rio Arade and Padre António Martins de Oliveira Schools, and the facilitator of the PortalB project – A happy school is what you want.
