Lagoa streamlines Holy Week with cultural programming

The municipality of Lagoa will invest in a cultural program for the Holy Week that is celebrated between the 21st of March and the 4th of April.

Despite the restrictive measures imposed by the pandemic situation, the municipality of Lagoa will mark Holy Week with several concerts that will be transmitted via streaming through the municipality's social networks.

On March 21st, at 4:00 pm, the “Spring Concert: Around the Seasons – Piazzolla and Vivaldi” will be broadcast from the Mother Church of Estômbar, with the participation of musicians Diana Tzonkova on the violin, Ercole De Conca on the double bass and Emanuela Nicoli na Harp who, as the show's name suggests, will reproduce the works of two great composers, Antonio Vivalid and Astor Piazzolla.

On March 26, at 9 pm, from the Igreja Matriz de Lagoa, the “Lenten Concert – Stabat Mater by Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805)” with soprano Carla Pontes accompanied by the Quintet Sull’a Corda takes place. The musicians will interpret the work Stabat Mater composed by Luigi Boccherini (1743–1805) in 1781 (G.532a) and with a revision dated 1801 (G.532b, Op.61).

On April 4, at 4:00 pm, the Holy Week celebrations close, with the transmission from the Igreja da Misericórdia de Lagoa of the “1st Edition of the Algarve Harp Festival” with the performance of the harpist Helena Madeira who will present a vast repertoire with works such as Rosa das Rosas, cantiga X de Santa Maria, Alfonso X (1221-1284), or Amazing Grace, John Newton (1725-1807) as well as Hija mia, traditional Sephardic (12th / 13th century) among others, always to the melodious sound of the harp.

All concerts will be broadcast online on the facebook and youtube page of the Municipality of Lagoa.
