The municipality of Lagoa is part of the Citizenship 4.0 project. with the aim of "facilitating citizen participation in public life, starting with the school community". Then, on June 19, a digital assembly of young people from Lagoa met with around 130 participants.
The initiative took place within the scope of the «Citizenship 4.0» project developed by the Discurso Paralelo Association through the promotion of the My Polis platform. Among the participants were students, teachers, members of the My Polis team and the city councilor of Lagoa with the areas of education and citizenship, Ana Martins.
The proposals presented by the young people prioritized themes as diverse as "Garbage and Ecopoints", "Racism and Prejudice", "School: materials, training offer, infrastructure," Lagoon: spaces, infrastructure and responses ".
Councilor Ana Martins welcomed “the diversity and quality of the proposals presented” and highlighted “the importance of the direct involvement of young people in the changes in the municipality”. He also underlined the availability of the municipality "to develop some of the proposals presented through its integration in the activity plan of the municipality of Lagoa".
This assembly is the result of work that has been built with the involvement of 7 classes from the 3rd cycle of the two school groups in the municipality of Lagoa (AERA and ESPAMOL), the advice of the My Polis team and the coordination of the municipality of Lagoa.
The municipality highlights the «determining role of teachers that allowed the classroom to be transformed into a participation academy for 8 weeks of the 2020 school year».
