Lagos Tribute to the memory of Infante D. Henrique - Diario diariOnline Região Sul

This year's program of celebrations runs from November 9 to 13 and includes varied initiatives. The first one, on the 9th, concerns the Seminar "Alcácer-Quibir-margens y contramargens", which counts on the participation of several Africa as the resistance of the "Sufis" and the war of the Saddam syrups, and reflect on the writing of veterans and captives – the testimony of the vanquished.

The Seminar will take place throughout the day, in the Auditorium of the Paços do Concelho Building, and is supported by renowned Portuguese institutions, namely the Foundation for Science and Technology, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Lisbon and the Center of Humanities.

At the end of this day, the inauguration of the exhibition "From the Cross to the Crescent – The Rescue of the Captives" is already planned in the Old Town Hall.

This exhibition intends to approach captivity as a reality common to Christian and Muslim societies, the result of warlike conflicts and attacks by pirates and privateers, as well as the action of the religious of the Order of the Most Holy Trinity in the organization of redemptions and the exchange of captives . Organized by the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Cultural Department of the Cultural Department of the Lisbon City Council and by DECCAS-UTCCT-Service of Historical and Museological Heritage of the City of Lagos, this exhibition reproduces the fundamental aspects of the exhibition held in collaboration with the General Directorate of the Archives and Libraries Book, earlier this year, in the Torre do Tombo National Archive.

For the days 10 and 11 are scheduled two visits commented by the historic center. On the 13th, on the occasion of the death of the Infante, the Deposition of the Crown of Flowers at the Monument to the Infante D. Henrique, followed by a Mass in Honor of the Infante, at the Church of Santa Maria, will take place at 5:30 p.m.
