The Republican National Guard (GNR), in partnership with Infrarastruras de Portugal (IP), is conducting various road safety awareness actions following the launch of the “Let's Reflect” campaign in the districts of Setúbal, Lisbon, Porto, Braga, Coimbra, Evora and Faro.

The GNR Territorial Commands are developing actions aimed at making society aware of the problem of road accidents and the need to protect the most vulnerable users, such as children, the elderly and bicycle users. awareness of the dangers to which they are exposed on the highways, it is essential to use reflective equipment to increase their visibility, as well as the adoption of safe behaviors, whose actions will take place in the following days:

· September 30th, in the district of Porto

From 14:00 hours, at Dr. Mário Fonseca Basic and Secondary School, in Lousada with lecture and road circuit.

· October 1st, Braga District

From 07:00 hours, at Professor Manuel José Pereira Street, in Taipas with outdoor action.

· October 2, in the district of Coimbra

From 09:30, Montemor-o-Velho Educational Center group with lecture in room with 200 students.

From 11:00, EN111, Km 16, Montemor-o-Velho, (at LIDL roundabout) with roadside action with a class.

· October 3, in the district of Évora

From 10:00 am, on EN 4, on the A6 access node, in Vendas Novas with foreign action.

· October 4th, in the district of Faro

From 08:20 hours, at Vale Pedras Elementary School and Kindergarten and from 09:30 hours, at Vale Faro Park, framed in the event “Feast of Breeding Animals” both in Albufeira.

It should be noted that, from the analysis of the accident data in 2018, the GNR recorded 3,950 roadkillings, causing 70 fatalities and 202 serious injuries, representing an 11% increase in the number of serious victims compared to the previous year. the fact that 75% of fatalities are over 50 years old.
