On 18, 19, 20, 22, 23 and 24 August, FolkFaro is back in the municipality of Loulé with various proposals of songs and dances from around the world, not forgetting the local groups.
As part of the decentralization of this event, which constitutes the largest folklore festival in the south of the country, 300 participants will celebrate the union and the meeting of the peoples through the expression of their identity cultures, which highlight the folklore. The invited international groups will host the county ranches, but it is also worth mentioning the integration of the 10th International Folklore Festival of the Folkloric and Ethnographic Ranch of São Sebastião to this program.
At the start, on the 18th, the Boliqueime People's House welcomes the Argentine group Asociación “Nuestras Raíces” (Rosario – Santa Fe), which will have alongside the Boliqueime People's House Folkloric Ranch, for a joint performance that takes place within from BFF – Boliqueime Food Festival.
On the 19th, Folkfaro joins the folklore of Slovakia with the group FS Rozmarija (Presov) on the natural stage of Fonte Grande de Alte to the best of the little run represented by the Serra do Caldeirão Ethnographic Group.
Salir is the point of passage of this program, on the 20th, with the performance of the Jaime Orozco National Folkloric Ballet, from Bogotá, Colombia, and the “As Mondadeiras das Barrosas” Folklore Ranch, at Salir Primary School.
On the 22nd, the Loulé Children's Folk Ranch is the host of one night that will be invited by the Turkish group Penfolk Sarfolk (Pendik – Istanbul), in Praça do Mar, Quarteira.
South Africa's Ubuhle Be Afrika (Port Elizabeth) takes the stage at the Largo da Querença Church on the 23rd, next to the Serra do Caldeirão Ethnographic Group.
On closing night, the 24th, Folkfaro joins the 10th International Folklore Festival of the São Sebastião Folklore and Ethnographic Ranch. In addition to the promoters of this initiative, the Jaime Orozco National Folk Ballet (Bogotá, Colombia), the Danzas Adolfo de Castro Group (Cádiz, Spain), the Macao Folk Ranch and the Folkloric Ranch will be present at the parish council. from Ria Formosa (Olhão)
FolkFaro is the only festival in southern Portugal with international certification by the CIOFF-International Council of Folklore and Traditional Arts Festival Organizations, a non-governmental organization (NGO) with formal consultative relations with UNESCO, Created in 1970 to safeguard the promotion and diffusion of traditional culture and folklore.
