Two young runners from the Loulé / Elevis BTT won the Portuguese national team on the podiums of their respective races at the XCO Open in Spain in Caudete, Albacete.
In women's juniors, Loulean cyclist Daniela Campos was 2nd placed, 3.07 minutes away from the winner, compatriot Ana Santos.
"Ana and Daniela have taken on the front of the juniors from the beginning, in the company of the Spanish champions. Ana would eventually distance herself and managed to reach the second place overall. Daniela also walked in front of most of the elite runners. All our cyclists have done an excellent test, "said Ana Rita Vigário, technical manager for the Portuguese delegation at the Spanish Open.
The women's cadet competition was attended by two representatives of the Loulé emblem: Iris Chagas reached the 3rd position, with a further 1.51 minutes, than the winner, Andrea Pascual, while Laura Simão was the 4th ranked, 2.23.
