The Municipality of Loulé is a finalist in the “Promotion for Public Entities” category of the National Handicraft Prize, promoted by IEFP – Institute of Employment and Vocational Training. It is an award that aims to encourage artisanal production, in its traditional and contemporary aspects, distinguishing artisans who stand out for their technical and professional skills and for the excellence of their results, as well as public and private agents and entities with relevant interventions. in the promotion of arts and crafts.
The Municipality of Loulé has been supporting the arts and crafts through the holding of handicraft fairs and exhibitions and the Creative Loulé project, which has created a network of workshops currently consisting of 5 spaces. In addition, and aware of the need for the transmission of knowledge in the arts and crafts, various activities and training in this area have been organized. The Loulé Design Lab was also created, a creation, research and experimentation laboratory, which supports a network of designers and makers, one of which was incubated, Sílvia Rodrigues, who works the art of newsprint, a finalist of the National Prize for Crafts, in the category “Innovation Award”.
