Luiz Costa from Sporting / Tavira Paracycling was ranked 6th in the H5 class of the Ostende Paragliding World Cup in Belgium on Saturday.
The Portimão athlete has returned to qualifying for the first time in a World Cup event, completing the eight laps (64 km) in 1: 55.23 hours, spending 8.02 minutes more than the 1st place, world champion and leader of the UCI ranking, Tim de Vries (The Netherlands).
Luís Costa's race in Ostende was within the expectation of José Marques, a national coach – placing himself in the top ten, the athlete adds points to the world hierarchy – although he is below 5th place in the inaugural Cup World, last week in Corridonia, Italy.
In the counter-clock of the first day of the World Cup, the Portuguese paracyclist repeated the result of the inaugural round of the World Cup in this discipline and returned to be 8º classified in H5, class destined to hand bicycles.
On the other hand, Flávio Pacheco, also from Sporting / Tavira Paracycling, returned to represent the national colors and was 20th place in the H4 class, giving 12.55 minutes to the winner Jetze Plat.
In the H4 class counter-clock race, Flávio Pacheco was ranked 20th, 5.24 minutes by the Dutchman Jetz Plat, who confirmed his favoritism at the start.
