Manuel Alegre will be honored as "poet of freedom" by the Town Hall of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, in the large auditorium of the cultural center, next April 23, at 6 pm, in a session in which will be speakers Paulo Aguena and António Carlos Cortez, Arnaldo Saraiva, Clara Rocha, Jorge Maximino, Eduardo Lourenço and Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins.
The honoree will read poems and there will be a musical moment like Coimbra's Guitar Trio. The session ends with an autograph session of books by Manuel Alegre.
The tribute is part of the festival of poetry and music of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, which runs from 23 to 27 April in that municipality, with shows, conferences, debates, reading sessions (for students and teachers), meetings with writers in schools, among other initiatives.
Before the homage to Manuel Alegre, between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., Paulo Sucena is one of the participants in the conference "poetry versus history" to talk about the poetry of Manuel Alegre. All the conferences of this festival are credited as training action for teachers.
