This Tuesday, May 12, the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library reopened, and users are obliged to respect a set of rules for face-to-face assistance, according to the guidelines of the Directorate-General for Health.
In the weeks of closed doors to the public, the professionals of this cultural equipment proceeded to clean and sanitize all surfaces, changing the layout of the space to reinforce security, which will allow the distance of two meters between users. Signposts for waiting in line were also placed on the access ramps to the main door, also two meters away.
All visitors must disinfect their hands in disinfectant gel dispensers and must wear a mask, respecting the physical distance of at least two meters, in addition to adopting the respiratory label.
The municipal library of Portimão will operate during the month of May from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a short period of closing of the space for disinfection, between 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm.
As of May 18, the maximum capacity will be 20 people, spread over the two rooms, and magazines and newspapers cannot be read. Users should ask the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Library team for the books they want, not taking them off the shelves under any circumstances. After consultation, they must return the books to the librarian.
With regard to the home loan service, readers will be accompanied by an employee, who will remove the desired book from the bookshelf, and return it through the mailbox outside the building. The borrowed or consulted copies will be quarantined for 15 days.
Only documents that are part of the documentary archive of the municipal library of Portimão may be borrowed, and the interlibrary loan is not available.
