The Prime Minister, António Costa, will meet this Monday afternoon with the President of the Republic because of the fuel strike.
The extraordinary meeting is scheduled for this afternoon at 3:30 pm at the Belém Palace, an official source told Jornal Económico. It has not been confirmed for now whether Marcelo or Costa will make statements following the meeting.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who returned on Friday from Germany, where he was on an official visit, had announced that he was going on vacation this Monday. This announcement was also made in Germany, where he also said he had the deposit of his car certified.
Even before going to Germany, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa once again called for dialogue between truckers and bosses, warning that the means (ie the ongoing stoppage since dawn) should not undermine the ends (the satisfaction of some of the drivers' claims, which he considers fair).
