Marcelo promulgates statute of the deputies and regime of exercise of public positions – The Economic Newspaper

In the text in which he announced these promulgations, in the Presidency's Internet page, and the veto to the law on the lobby, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa writes that "one could have gone further" in the regime of the exercise of functions by holders of public offices and high public office.

He welcomed, however, the "extension of the principle of exclusivity of functions, although not yet complete, and the salutary extension of the declaratory obligations to other entities."

Regarding the amendment of the Statute for Members, the President recalls his "radical personal position on exclusivity, impediments and conflicts of interest" and regrets that the statute is not "fully harmonized" with the other law.

And one of the arguments for the promulgation is the fact that "less than 8% of Members" voted against amendments to the statute for Members, approved in June by the Assembly of the Republic.
