Mário Centeno stays in Finance and strengthens status as Minister of State

With António Costa already nominated as prime minister, the PS secretary general is finalizing the list of names with which he will face the next legislature, both in the Government and in the parliamentary bench. Jornal Económico has contacted a number of socialist sources and, although there are still many unknowns, it is possible to anticipate the most likely changes in the executive's organics.

The ones that leave
So far, it is certain that Vieira da Silva will leave the post of Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security – he himself was in charge of announcing this outcome this summer in an interview. And, as the Economic has found, it will not be the only case. Capoulas Santos, from Agriculture, also sees the term that has now ended as the last of his political career.

The maintenance of Manuel Heitor in Science is one of the main unknowns. Costa may want to make this area more dynamic and take advantage of the vacancy to promote Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, Minister of Education, or Alexandra Leitão, Secretary of State for Education.
