The results of the first phase of higher education applications are already out and there are 44,500 new students in higher education. The figures were released by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education and are available from 00h01 this Sunday on the website of the Directorate General of Higher Education (DGES).
For the fourth consecutive year, it is an engineering course that makes history. This time it is with a 189.5 that entered the last place in the course of Aerospace Engineering at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). The highest average this year.
Second is the IST Physical and Technological Engineering course, with an average of 188.8 values. Bioengineering and Industrial Engineering and Management, both from the University of Porto and with an average of 186.5, won the third place.
Medicine fell to fourth place, rising three places from the previous year, with the course of the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto (185.0), usually the one with the highest grades.
If engineering continues to stand out in this top 10, it should be noted that there are already two Applied Mathematics courses in the top ten. Specifically, Mathematics Applied to Economics and Management, from the Higher Institute of Economics and Management, University of Lisbon, and Mathematics Applied to Computing, from IST.
As for institutions, Técnico continues to have four courses in this ranking, such as the University of Porto.
