As a result of the communiqué of the Council of Ministers of the past 7 May, and the last amendment to the corresponding decree-law, the municipality of Silves «was forced to cancel the 2020 edition of the largest event in the municipality: the Medieval Fair of Silves ». This is a postponement
justified by the importance of safeguarding public health at a time when the rules of social distance, respiratory etiquette and the use of a mask gain greater expression in the fight against the pandemic.
According to the Mayor of Silves, Rosa Palma, “the year 2020 will be marked forever in our souls as a year of struggle against an invisible enemy, but also as a year of reflection, reinvention, hope and reaction to adversity. Reflection, because the world has long needed to stop and reflect. Reinvention, because it is urgent to redefine practices, processes and experiences. Hope, because we always have to believe in ourselves, in our ability to build the future and, with a heart full of courage, to react energetically »and he adds« we are already preparing the 2021 edition of our Medieval Fair that will take place between the days August 10th and 19th. A unique party, where we will celebrate our great victory together ».
The municipality of Silves thus extends the invitation until next year, in addition to having created a video demonstrating the current message, which can be viewed online.
