"Mediterranean Club": Portuguese book wins international illustration and design competition in Moscow - Showbiz



“The book 'Clube Mediterraneo' by João Pedro Mésseder, Ana Biscaia and Joana Monteiro (co-edited by the Xerefé editions and Editora dos Tipo) was awarded a diploma at the 12th International Book Illustration and Design Competition Image of the book in the author book category, ”according to a statement issued by publisher Xerefé.

It is a book that talks about “the present time, about the tragic world we inhabit”, about the “Mediterranean Sea cemetery for refugees” and about “Europe devouring itself”.

More than 600 artists presented their work from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Yakutsk, other cities of Russia and also the Republic of Belarus, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Great Britain.

Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Australia, Iran, Lebanon, Canada, USA, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan, South Africa, were the other countries from which picture books were presented to the contest.

Among the winners, there is a solid list of foreign illustrators, one can read on the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications website.
