FC Barcelona's Argentine Lionel Messi will be re-evaluated on Thursday after suffering a blow in the nose in the match with Manchester United, the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
After the Catalans' 1-0 defeat, Blaugrana coach Ernest Valverde revealed that Messi suffered a "considerable bruise" following a move with central defender Chris Smalling, still in the first part of the meeting.
The 'captain' of FC Barcelona had a nosebleed and was even assisted by the medical team. Still, the Argentine returned to the pitch shortly after and completed the 90 minutes at Old Trafford.
Messi led the FC Barcelona triumph goal in the 12 minutes as he crossed over to Uruguay's Luis Suárez, who still benefited from a corner kick from English side Luke Shaw.
This was the first victory of the Catalans at Old Trafford, which until today had added two defeats and two draws in the red devils' redoubt.
The second leg of the quarter is scheduled for next Tuesday at Camp Nou.
