Between November 12 and 15, the MEXE – International Meeting of Art and Community will animate the Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, including the presentation of shows performed by local citizens.
The event aims to be "a space for reflection around memories, identities and feelings of belonging", through the construction of two unpublished shows with the population of the city.
The two moments will cross the performance and music, thinking about citizenship and the day-to-day relevance of the inhabitants of Faro.
The workshop "Community Theater: Art as a Right to Community" by Edith Scher starts on the 10th and for three days will focus on community theater practices.
"A neighborhood theater for neighbors, with a strong territorial component, which will integrate elements of all ages, working memory and celebration," says the Argentine director.
During the days of the workshop, which has a cost of 5 euros, will be worked acting techniques, dynamics of communication with neighbors, dramaturgy.
The work will result in a public presentation, on November 13, at 4:00 p.m., based on the collection and adaptation work carried out in the creation process.
On November 14, at 9:00 pm, with free entrance, the talk "Community Artistic Practices in dialogue" will take place with Hugo Cruz and Edith Scher
Between 12 and 14, the workshop "Basket Beat" (cost of 5 euros), by the Spanish Josep Borrás, which proposes the creation of a musical spectacle with basketball balls, that explores the abilities and the interests of the participants, the their conceptions about reality and opinions regarding the community in which they live.
The public presentation of the work takes place on November 15 at 9:30 p.m.
