The Montalegre International Circuit will be the stage of the Supermoto World Cup on July 20 and 21, the Transmontano municipality announced Friday.
After losing the World Cup race, the local authority tried to compensate for the lost event and, guaranteed Global Rallycross Europe, new competition that will be played in August, now comes the confirmation of the World Cup supermoto, a competition that mix motocross with asphalt.
In a statement, the local authority montalegrense said that are expected "close to 50 riders and 14 teams, some factory, representing more than 14 countries," in an event that will crown the 2014 supermoto world champion.
Among those present will be the Frenchman Thomas Chareyre, already six times world champion.
"We always want to provide our fans, both Portuguese and Spanish, with maximum adrenaline. Our circuit is constantly fighting to host the best motorsport events in the world and in 2019 we open the door to a new and exciting sport, this time on two wheels, the supermoto, "explained the vice president of the Municipal Council of Montalegre, quoted in the same document.
