"Seen from Brussels, António Costa's leadership has pointed to growth, deficit reduction and is financially healthy. Portugal has a good government, "said Pierre Moscovici, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Tax and Customs, on the second day of the Estoril Conferences.
Present in the debate "Fiscal Justice and Human Rights: Combat Fiscal Evasion, defending European values", Moscovici also acknowledged that "Costa has the talent to govern with the left and defend the alliance with the liberals of Europe".
On the European elections last Sunday, the Commissioner warned that "populism is progressing" and that the "majority of pro-European parliamentarians" is not considered sufficient for the defense of Europe.
In relation to Italy, Moscovici guarantees that "sanctions will not be applied to Italy" but rather an "exchange of views" for the Italian government to "comply with the rules".
