The team of the Psychiatric Service of the Faro Unit of the Algarve University Hospital Center will promote a set of activities in the context of the event «September – Suicide Prevention Month».
The initiatives kick off on September 18 at the Faro Cineclub, with a film and entertainment cycle that includes the screening of three thematic films: «As Horas» (18, 21:30 hours), «A Guide to a Happy Ending» (day 22, 15:10) and "A singular man" (day 26, 21:30).
Aiming at addressing the theme of suicide, talking about prevention, promoting healthy behaviors and presenting the resources available in the community in the area of Mental Health, the multidisciplinary team of the Psychiatry Service promotes, on September 20th, at 10:00 am, on the premises. from the Portuguese Youth Institute in Faro, a round table with the theme “Smiling for Life”.
Open to the general population and with free registration, the initiative has the participation of Marta Brás, University of Algarve, Mónica Inácio, Asmal, as well as representatives of the Voice of Hope Association and members of the multidisciplinary team of the Department of Psychiatry and Mental health.
Still on the 20th, at 13:45, and integrated in the program of the Internship Days of the Algarve Medical School, doctors Pedro Ribeiro and Patrícia Marta, interns of the Psychiatry Service, present the theme «Medical Burnout», at the School of Hotel and Tourism from Faro.
The program also includes two outdoor leisure initiatives, namely a zumba class, which takes place on the 21st, and a yoga session, scheduled for September 28th, both starting at 10:00 am, on the riverside promenade of Faro, next to to the Theater of Figures.
