The show «O Homem do Fogo», held in the garden of Verbena, in São Brás de Alportel, last Saturday, 26, sensitized, with art, to the prevention of rural fires.
It is an initiative of TEAS13 – Amateur Experimental Theater Group of São Brás de Alportel, with the São Brás de Alportel Philharmonic Band, sand animation by Pilar Puyana and dramatic creation and narration by Fernando Guerreiro.
São Brás de Alportel was the only municipality in the region chosen to host the national project “Don't play with fire”, launched this year, as a result of the partnership between the Agency for the Integrated Management of Rural Fires (AGIF) and the Ministry of Culture, which aims to sensitize populations and mobilize people to change behaviors related to the use of fire through cultural productions.
The show's debut was attended by the Assistant Secretary of State and Cultural Heritage, Ângela Ferreira.
“I really liked the combination of these different aspects of the narrative, the band and the drawings in the sand. It is a very successful show ”, said the minister at the end, taking the opportunity to stress that she believes“ a lot ”in culture and the arts as a way of“ sensitizing and changing behaviors ”.
"Therefore, we will hope that this partnership (Ministry of Culture and AGIF) will continue and that this type of show can be repeated more often", stressed Ângela Ferreira.
The efforts, creativity and mastery of the artists who developed this project in São Brás de Alportel were also praised on the occasion by the mayor, Vitor Guerreiro.
“Along with artistic creation, it conveys the important message that it is urgent to protect nature from fire and that this is a mission in which every citizen can and must make their contribution”, reinforces the autarchy.
Created from a traditional Chinese tale, “O Homem do Fogo” transports viewers “to the beginning of time, when time was not yet time, when man was created and fire was discovered”.
“Coexistence between man and fire has always been done on the razor's edge. The evolution of life on Earth was due to the force of fire and the stubbornness of men. Like everything that is uncontrollable, fire also quickly escaped the hands of man. Early on, Man realized that fire could be a threat and felt it on his skin when he let the trees and the bush get too close to the houses and serve as a fuse to burn everything they had, or when ignoring the wind and heat excessive, they decided to continue with old habits of burning fires and, without thinking about the serious consequences, they transform everyone's life and Nature into mere pieces of coal. The neglect, neglect, disrespect for Nature and the evil that lodges in the hearts of weak men often caused the fire to run through hills and valleys destroying everything in its path. It takes dozens, hundreds of years for a tree to take root and make the earth its home and give shade and fruit, but mere seconds are enough for it to be reduced to ashes, ”reads the message of the show.
