Returning confidence to the players is the first mission of the new coach of Farense, Jorge Costa, who today started his journey in the Algarve with a draw in the reception to Santa Clara (1-1).
“My immediate big goal is to restore confidence to the team. I know it is not easy, confidence comes with the results, but we have quality ”, said the coach, after the match.
Jorge Costa is sure that Farense, at the end of the season, will guarantee maintenance, avoiding the current 17th and penultimate position, with 13 points but one game behind.
“We have players, structure and beautiful working conditions and I am convinced that, in the end, our classification will be completely different from the current one”, he guaranteed, noting: “I am surprised by the place that Farense occupies in the table.”
The goal is to “change the minds of the players”, after today having confirmed some of the opinions with which he arrived. “If I was already sure, today I confirmed them, because we did a good first half. At the break, there is the ‘hang up’, those 15 minutes were bad and the players started to think about the importance of the three points and lost confidence. After the tie, we were better, ”he said.
Wishing to return to Portugal to be able to be close to his parents, who “are very old” in a serious moment of the Covid-19 pandemic, Jorge Costa immediately accepted the invitation.
“When they called me from Farense, I didn't think twice. It is the opportunity to serve a historic club and return to a region where I was already very happy and I hope to be again ”, said the coach who, in 2009, was in Olhanense's return to the I Liga.
