The forecast of the state of the sea predicts an exceptional worsening of the conditions of wind and maritime agitation, the so-called Levante effect, between today, Tuesday, 26, and the dawn of Monday, April 1, on the Algarve coast.
According to the National Maritime Authority, the sea turmoil will be characterized by rippling from the southeast quadrant with a significant height that can reach four meters and average time varying between six and seven seconds.
The wind can record speeds above 70 km / h and bursts above 100 km / h.
The authorities recommend reinforcement of the mooring and tight surveillance of moored and anchored vessels, as well as avoid sidewalks by the sea, from which stand the protection jetties of the ports.
Seafarers are also advised to maintain a state of continuous surveillance and monitoring the evolution of weather conditions, warnings for navigation and weather forecasting broadcast by the Navy relating to the IPMA weather forecast, as well as other information from captaincies on the conditions of use. access to ports.
For the general population that frequent the coastal zones, it is advisable to abstain from practicing walks along the coast, on the cliffs and on the beaches, as well as practicing ludic activities in areas exposed to maritime unrest, and it is essential that they assume a preventive posture is not unnecessarily exposed to risk.
If there is an absolute need to travel to the coast, you should be vigilant.
The authorities strongly discourage ludic fishing, especially along the cliffs and upstream areas on the coastal fronts hit by wave surf, always bearing in mind that in these conditions the sea can easily reach apparently safe areas.
