The association Naval 1893 and the Chamber of Figueira da Foz signed an agreement for the payment plan the municipal fees in arrears applied to the football club, related to the use of the fields, of around 17.7 thousand euros. The document allows shipowners to pay off the debt in 61 monthly installments of 300 euros. On the other hand, they benefit from the forgiveness of late payment interest, which amounts to 2670 euros.
If Naval misses a monthly payment, the agreement reads, it will trigger the “immediate maturity of all installments falling due (those that remain to be paid). On the other hand, non-compliance will give rise to coercive collection, through tax enforcement, and the support allocated by the municipality to the club will be retained.
In addition to having to pay off the debt, the club commits, as from the entry into force of the agreement, to pay the fees for the use of the fields of the José Bento Pessoa Municipal Stadium complex within a maximum period of 30 days. In other words, you will not be able to accumulate more debt to the chamber, otherwise you will be banned from accessing the training ground.
Naval and the city council agree that they signed a good agreement. At DIÁRIO AS BEIRAS, the club president, Joka Mateus, defended that “within the club's capacities, it is a good agreement, because the minimum has been reached [em termos do valor das prestações]”. However, he said, "with the current situation, things are always more difficult, but Naval will do everything to honor the commitments".
“An agreement is always negotiated by the parties and aims to be the best for the parties. The agreement was made to make the installment payable feasible. I think it is a fair and balanced agreement ”, advocated, in turn, councilor Mafalda Azenha.
