The "Hydra" navy's rapid surveillance boat seized 40 kg of drug (hashish) that were in the sea, near the border between Portugal and Spain, yesterday, October 05, at 7:00 p.m.
During this action it was not possible to identify the traffickers, however two boxes of narcotics were recovered. The seizure was delivered to the Maritime Police, in view of the subsequent procedural process.
The NRP Hydra, in coordination with the Southern Maritime Zone Command and with the support of the Port Authority of Vila Real de Santo António, continued today, Saturday, the searches near the border, and no more cases of illicit narcotics were detected .
The Navy's vessel is on a mission in the South Maritime Zone. In the course of its mission, it exercises permanent vigilance in waters under national jurisdiction.
The actions of permanent surveillance at sea, carried out by the Navy, are essential so that all the Portuguese can use the sea safely.
