The prestigious Algarvian musician, accordionist and teacher Nelson Conceição will present next October 11, at 9:30 pm, at the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium, in Loulé, an unprecedented show in the context of the Iberian Biennial of Cultural Heritage, in which he has several guests specials: Petro Moroi (clarinet and saxophones) and Pedro Branco (percussions) – elements of the Minerva Philharmonic Band – Paulo Machado (bass), Todd Sheldrick (French horn) and Cristina Paulo (voice).
For the first time, Loulé hosts the Iberian Biennial of Cultural Heritage, a European-level reference event that provides a meeting point and debate forum for professionals and institutions dedicated to cultural heritage. Its exhibition area, the diversity of scientific and professional activities and its social programming result in a unique event that aims to promote, enhance and enhance the visibility of the Cultural Heritage sector through the aggregation of the various agents and stakeholders working in it.
Thus, for the show that closes the first day of the Biennial, Cine-Teatro Louletano placed an order with a prestigious accordion performer, composer and teacher, Nelson Conceição, to join an ensemble of the Minerva Artists Philharmonic Band and some guests, in a contagious fusion that revisits the musical Portugal, covering different territories ranging from fado to Alentejo sing, from jazz to traditional music, always with a contemporary style. The multiple inspirations and musical experiences of Conceição are a guarantee of quality and innovation for a show that will revisit the tradition while keeping an eye on the present, as “whoever tells a story adds a point”.
Nelson Conceição, who debuted his album “Discovering Me” on this Louisiana stage in March this year, is from Bordeira, a lavish locality with great accordionists. He has developed a work of recognized quality and merit in the field of education, with more than 100 awards obtained through his students, together with the collection and recovery of intangible heritage related to his ancestors. The prestigious performer is coordinator of the “Land of Accordion” project and has even recorded most of the great national accordion names in his studio, not forgetting his deep collaboration in traditions such as Charolas. It has been an integral element of projects from different fields and musical contexts, both in the most popular area such as the “Nagragadas Girls” and in a more avant-garde aspect such as the “Mito Algarvio Ensemble – Cyneticum”, directed by João Frade.
The concert lasts approximately 75 minutes, is intended for children over 6 years and has an associated cost per person of 5 euros, with no applicable discounts. The capacity is limited.
