The Algarve accordionist Nelson Conceição will present his new album, "Descobrindo-me", in a performance scheduled for Friday, 7, at 9:30 pm, at the parish council of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, in the municipality of Faro.
"After having exhausted Cine-Teatro Louletano in March, with an amazing show of presentation of his new album, Nelson Conceição again presents the same show with a few more surprises," says the press office of the artist.
A native of Bordeira, in the parish of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, a place that is prodigal in great accordionists, this album "reflects the inspirations and musical experiences of Nelson Conceição from his childhood to the present", with a diversity of musical genres that allows a symbiosis between ancestors and contemporaries, exploring relationships between fado, tango, corridinho and erudite music, or jazz manouche / gipsy.
Coupled with some virtuosity and improvisation, this work "brings an emotional and profound reflection on facts and moments that have set the musical creation of themes with great meaning", such as "The Last Goodbye", dedicated to his maternal grandmother, or "Stories of a creator ", in honor of the accordionist João Barra Bexiga, among others.
In addition to being an interpreter and composer, Nelson Conceição has been dedicating himself to other musical causes, such as teaching, with many prizes obtained through his students; the collection and recovery of intangible heritage related to their ancestors, as coordinator of the Terra de Accordion project between 2005 and 2014; and the production of several recordings, recording even most of the great national names of the accordion in his studio; the deep collaboration in traditions such as the banquets and popular marches; or as an integral element of projects from different areas and musical contexts, such as the Nagragadas Girls, Rastemenga and Mito Algarvio Ensemble Cyneticum.
This show will count on the participation of several invited musicians: Ivo Martins (drums and percussions), Cláudio Sousa (classical guitar), Pedro Sá (viola de arco), João Pedro Cunha and Olena IIyintsova (violins), Luís Henrique bass), Cristina Paulo (voice) and João Espada in the projections.
