Called Spark AR, the augmented reality system now allows anyone to create and send custom face filters and other effects through Instagram stories. The announcement was made by Facebook.
To start having fun in the beta released this Tuesday you will need to access the camera's effects bar when the Instagram application is open.
According to Facebook data, over one billion users have already used Spark AR, with hundreds of millions of people using the technology every month on Facebook, Messenger and Instagram.
In addition, the platform is also introducing a gallery effects separator into artist profiles, allowing them to display their creations.
Having introduced Augmented Reality filters in 2017, the platform now sees Spark AR being extended to the entire Instagram community, as announced by Facebook in April this year.
