The National Maritime Authority and ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal last week signed an institutional cooperation protocol for the provision of a pontoon for mooring vessels in Faro.
The construction of the pontoon for the mooring of vessels will be assumed by ANA, which will later assign its use to the National Maritime Authority.
The installation of the mooring pontoon has an estimated period of six months for its completion, depending on the date of completion of the dredging to be done at the place of the floating pier.
The signing of the protocol took place at ANA's premises in Lisbon by the Director-General of the Maritime Authority, Vice Admiral Luís Sousa Pereira, representing the National Maritime Authority, and the chairman and member of the executive committee of the company, Thierry Ligonniere and Chloé Lapeyre, respectively.
"This protocol aims to improve the performance of entities with responsibilities in the area of air and maritime safety, which is a construction that will significantly improve the responsiveness of the National Maritime Authority in an emergency," the official said in a statement.
