The Municipality of Odemira received, for the 3rd consecutive year, the award of Municipality of Sports Friend, a public distinction of good practices in the intervention of municipalities in the area of ​​sport and physical activity.

The awarding ceremony was formalized on February 25, at the Pavilhão Desportivo Municipal, with the handing of the flag and diploma to the Mayor of Odemira, José Alberto Guerreiro, and to the councilor responsible for Sport, Pedro Ramos, by the hand of the person in charge by the Sports Friendly Municipality Program, Pedro Mortágua Soares.

The Mayor of the Municipality considered this as "a recognition award not only for the Municipality, but also for all the local sports associations".

The prize comes from the Municipality of Sport Program, promoted by the Cidade Social platform, which is a sharing network that favors the monitoring, recognition and dissemination of good practices in the municipal scope of sports development in Portugal.

This award recognizes the work developed by the Municipality of Odemira in promoting and promoting sports practice in the municipality, which is reflected in the diversity and investments in indoor and outdoor sports facilities, in supporting local clubs through the Sports Activity Awards, in the projects developed in terms of the promotion of sport in childhood (Infância Ativa), the School Sport Program and senior sport (Viver Ativo), as well as in regional and national events in various modalities organized or supported by the Municipality.
