Old fiscal posts in Sagres and Burgau target of new Revive Nature tenders

Seven properties belonging to the Revive Nature Fund, including the old fiscal posts in Sagres and Burgau, both in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, were yesterday put out to tender for the allocation of exploration rights.

Public properties put up for tender will thus be subject to requalification and valorisation, promoting regional and local development through new uses for tourism purposes.

Interested parties can submit their applications until next February 16, 2021.

“In addition to taking care of the present, we have to take care of the future of our tourism,” said Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques, in this regard.

“The enhancement of the built and natural heritage must continue to be one of our priorities: on the one hand it responds to the demand trends, on the other hand the tourist activities that emerge from here create wealth and enhance the unique attributes of each region, without compromising them ”, Added the official.

This is the second contest launched by the Revive Nature Fund. For the first set of properties to be tendered, 102 applications were received, showing the enormous interest and demand, and applications for the old tax posts in Vilamoura and Cabanas are still open until 30 November.

The proposals submitted are now under evaluation, as defined in the respective tender programs, so the respective contractors will be announced shortly.

The Revive Nature Fund, created through Decree-Law No. 161/2019, of 25 October, aims at the requalification and enhancement of vacant public properties, with the objective of making the conservation, recovery and safeguarding of the values in question compatible with new uses, which benefit local communities, attract new visitors and establish new residents.

The Revive Nature Fund is managed by Turismo Fundo, which manages the state's real estate network.

Turismo Fundo is a commercial company established in 1995, through a partnership between Turismo de Portugal, Caixa Geral de Depósitos and Novo Banco, responsible for the administration, management and representation of real estate funds, which is part of the Ministry of Economy and Digital Transition.
