Olhanense, the Serie D leaders of the Portuguese Football Championship, tied this Sunday in Sintra, at the close of the first round of the race, allowing the pursuers, including Louletano, to approach.
On matchday 17, Olhão's side did not go beyond their nil at Sintrense's ground – their third draw in the last five meetings – although they clearly dominated the match.
Bruno Ribeiro's team were up and created several opportunities, even reduced to ten units: Joshua was sent off after seeing two yellow in three minutes (52 and 55).
Olhanense remain top of the championship with 40 points, one more than Real SC, four more than Alverca and six more than Louletano, who beat Loures (2-0).
At the Algarve Stadium, after a balanced first half, Loulé's team outperformed in the second half, with goals from Oliveira (52) and Abou Touré (83). In between, Lucas Paes, the Louletano keeper, defended a penalty from Hugo Machado (63).
Armacenenses tied at the reception to Fabril do Barreiro (2-2) and remains in the middle of the table, in 10th place, with 21 points.
Hugo Meira opened the scoring for the Algarve, at 32 minutes. In the second half, Adul Seidi equalized (65), Meira scored twice (70) and Celestino scored 2-2 on penalties (78).
The Esp. Lagos also tied (1-1), in the reception to Amora, returning to the descent zone (14th, 16 points). Dwann, for the locals (24), and Delgado (81) signed the goals of the match.
Next week (January 19), the second round of the Portuguese Championship starts. The 18th round comprises the following matches with Algarve teams: Louletano-Amora, Esp. Lagos-Fabril do Barreiro and Armacenenses-Olhanense.
