The Municipality of Olhão invested around 425 thousand euros in teaching materials and in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, as part of the start of the new school year, next week.
Students in the 1st cycle of basic education in the municipality will have waiting for the didactic material and notebooks offered by the local authority, in an investment of 150 thousand euros.
The councilor for Education, António Camacho, delivered yesterday, symbolically and on behalf of the municipality, the respective kits and book of records to the director of the School Group Dr. Alberto Iria, Arlinda Figueira, a situation that will be repeated in other groups.
In addition to continuing to support Olhanenses families with the supply of booklets and didactic material, in this academic year in the context of a pandemic, the municipality also made a supplementary investment to ensure the effective cleaning and hygiene of school spaces, in the amount of 121 thousand euros, and reinforced the schools' human resources, in a sum that amounts to 134 thousand euros.
Disposable supplies for meals were also purchased, in the amount of 20 thousand euros.
These investments, which total 425 thousand euros for the 2020/2021 school year, "prove the importance" that the Olhão municipality is giving to the security of the entire school community, including students, teachers and employees.
"It is important to bet effectively on this return to schools, because we want our students to learn safely", said the councilor of Education in his trip to the Largo da Feira school, where he left the guarantee that the schools in the municipality are in this return to “possible normality”, taking into account the pandemic.
